Vintage Vantage in the Wild #7

Some more entries for VV in the Wild free t-shirt giveaway have arrived, and they're muchos buenos.

The deal again is - you send us a photo of Vintage Vantage stickers or shirts you've spotted in real life. We send you a free t-shirt. Everybody smiles and dances.

Here's a VV Caucasia shirt sighting sent in by Benjy, who sayeth: "In and Out Burger. Fairfield, CA. Halfway between here and Sacramento....

I bought a new Mini Cooper, ate some animal fries while listening to indie rock on my iPod, and took this snapshot of someone wearing Vintage Vantage with my very modern Blackberry Tour. How's that for product placement, all across the board?"

And this one comes from Francisco DJFM Murgia who is "about to take everyone to OUTERSPACE!!"

The utterly lovely Lia Pina found this VV sticker in her high school! Look at her!

Last but not least, here's Andrew who says "she put it on facebook not me...and it's clearly an experiment..." An experiment during which he wisely wore his science t-shirt.

CAN I HAVE A BODY RUB? GLADLY!

by, William O. Johnson Poetry of a Father, Lover & Friend

CAN I HAVE A BODY RUB? GLADLY!

A long day, a hot and sore body,
you're tired after a long drive,
Can I have a body rub?

Playing with the kids, working in the yard,
you've just completed that five mile run,
Can I have a body rub?

Sitting at that desk for six or seven hours,
the stress and all the tension is trying to make you sour,
Can I have a body rub?

A play at school has you running to and fro, pulling our your
hair and almost ready to blow,
Can I have a body rub?

Coaching Little League and playing in the city league, as you
get older you pay the price for these,
Can I have a body rub?

Our days have ups and downs, we do so many things to get
ourselves off track, or make life a funny thing, but to let off
a little steam and help yourself relax,
GO AHEAD AND GET A BODY RUB
YOUR LOVER WILL CHARGE NO TAX!

CAN I HAVE A BODY RUB?
GLADLY,
NOW JUST KICK BACK!

Survival Tips

From FM21-76 (U.S. Department of the Army Field Manual, Survival, Evasion, and Escape, 1969)

  • Small fires are easier to build and control than large fires. A series of small fires built in a circle around you in cold weather gives more heat than one big fire.

  • Never speak to a stranger if it can be avoided. As a last resort, pretend to be deaf and dumb or even half-witted. This device has often been successful. To discourage conversation in public conveyance, pretend to read or sleep.
  • The milky sap of the unripe papaya fruit is a good meat tenderizer if rubbed into the meat. Avoid getting this juice into the eyes -- it will cause intense pain and temporary or even permanent blindness.

Sale! Sale! Sale!

In order to make room for the flood of fantastic new shirts coming down the VV pipeline in the coming weeks, we had to put 22 of our more elderly shirts on sale. While it's sad to see these go, they're on sale for only ten bucks! Parting is such cheap sorrow.

Click here to check them out, and act fast because once your size is gone in any of these styles, it's gone for good.

P.S. just kidding about the fire.

Spotlight on a Top Shelfer: Jim Traficant edition

Last week Rep. Jim Traficant (D-Ohio) was let out of jail after seven years. Traficant, 60, was convicted of all charges he faced, including racketeering, bribery, kickbacks and fraud.

read more, here, including:
After his indictment, his theatrical performance before the House Ethics committee and his subsequent expulsion from the House, Traficant offered this puzzling comment about his future: "I will take with me a file, chisel and a knife. I'll try to get some major explosives to fight my way out," he said. "Then when I get out, I'll grab a sword like Maximus Meridius and as a gladiator, I'll stab people in the crotch."

Oustide Lands Wrap Up

We had a steamy hot flantastic weekend at the Vintage Vantage T-shirt Shop and Hug Emporium tent at Outside Lands Festival in Golden Gate Park.

Guadalajara Joe performed a ninja set, Gaby V rocked and soothed the weary souls, and more free hugs were passed out than wooks.

Here's Reba sporting a custom-made Caucasia Knows How to Party Cardigan:

We even got a mention in the SF Chronicle:
Inside, there were virtually no lines at the portable toilets or numerous
concessions stands, which sold everything from fair trade coffee and organic
produce to local wines. One stall offered free hugs along with vintage t-shirts.

And here's an official OSL photo of a few free huggers spreading the love mustard!

Success! Already can't wait for next year.
